Intro | Main Threats | WWF's Role | Things to do | Reports
British Columbia’s Pacific Coast is filled with magnificent species and spaces, some found nowhere else on earth. From sea floor to mountain summit, this region is
home to a staggering abundance of natural diversity. Its cultural mix is equally rich, from the First Nations that have made their home here for over 10,000 years
to the newcomers that arrive daily from around the world.
Unfortunately, increased development pressure, poor
resource management, pollution, and climate change threaten this complex and delicate area. Now is the time to create the framework for long-term sustainability.
Finding a balance between sustainable economic development and ecosystem health will be essential to ensure a future in which humans and nature live in harmony.
WWF-Canada is working with communities, industry, First Nations and government to conserve the species and spaces that make the Northeast Pacific ecoregion a
global jewel. Together, we can create solutions that will work for everyone – and last for generations.
